The Forgotten County

Obviously we enjoy getting to exotic, remote places to climb and ski, but we do love being able to jump in the van and find ourselves in a beautiful place in two hours from our door. So, off to Donegal we went. It's about as good a place as you could want for running and climbing, so we put it to use. We spent a week climbing at Muckross Head, Malinbeg and Cruit Island, interspersed with scrambling over Slieve League and up the North West Ridge of Errigal. When we weren't in the mountains, we were running around the quiet roads between the lovely towns of Kilcar and Carrick, or on the beautiful TrĂ¡more beach at Dunfanaghay with its incredible views of the sleeping giant of Tory Island. In the evenings, we slept like logs in picturesque campsites on sandy beaches.
Pictures can't do those places real justice, but we did our best and you can see the results on our Facebook and Instagram pages.
On our last day, we hoped to go surfing, but we ran out of time. That's grand, a reason to go back.
